Thesis proposals are a maximum of five pages long (incl. title page, content approx. 2000 words) and set up as follows:
Title page:
- working title of the dissertation
- name, signature and contact information of the doctoral student
- institute, in which the dissertation should be carried out
- names and dated signatures of all the members of the doctoral committee.
- beginning and planned end of the dissertation
Content (max. four pages, approx. 2000 words):
- an introduction (suitable for ‘general biologists’)
- descriptions of the questions/hypotheses/goals that the dissertation should address
- the experimental approach/strategy
- preliminary data obtained in the period until submission of the proposal (if not applicable make a clear statement why no data are available)
- a time schedule (what should be achieved when and by which means)
- a list of relevant references, cited in the text
- planned courses
- planned teaching activities (ONLY ZNZ)
